Facilities
Mulbarton Remedial School can cater for 110 learners from Grades 1-7. We make every effort to constantly improve our facilities and grounds. Our aim is to develop well- rounded and well-mannered learners through a culture of friendliness and inclusivity.
Fields
In November and December 2025, we were fortunate enough to lay new grass with the help of parents’ efforts with fundraising. We have a small yet beautiful field which has hosted soccer matches, sports events and fun days over the years.
Jungle Gyms
In 2023 we fundraised to put up new jungle gyms on our Grade 1-3 playground. Every Friday we alternate our Grade 4-7s, allowing them an opportunity to use the jungle gyms too. The playground gives learners the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills. Our learners make the most of the playground equipment.
Art & Audi-blox Room
For their overall development, learners need the opportunity to express themselves creatively.
Our Art teachers work very hard to develop and expand learners’ creative talents. Our learners excel every year in the Alberton Art Eisteddfod.
Our Audi-blox programme is part of our Life Skills timetable. This is a multisensory, cognitive enhancement programme designed to improve foundational learning skills like concentration, memory, perception and logical thinking which are essential for reading, spelling and Mathematics. It also helps with learning difficulties like dyslexia, and ADD by accelerating learning, boosting confidence and improving academic performance in children.
Miriam Cleary Hall
Our school boasts a small, yet vibrant hall named after our schools’ late secretary who left her mark on our school.
We hold weekly assemblies on Monday mornings. In addition, we have hosted many innings in our hall, from Hooked on Books to Science shows. We also have our annual prizegiving in our hall, which is decorated especially for this event.
Therapy Rooms
Our school has two therapy rooms where valuable speech and occupational therapies take place. Adele Spear has provided many of our children with much needed Occupational Therapy for many years and is very experienced in her field. Learners love their therapy time with her. She is based at our school.
The second therapy room is used by other speech and occupational therapists who provide therapy for our learners during their school day.
Aftercare
The aim of our aftercare is to create a happy, safe and disciplined environment for learners to complete homework and spend their afternoons playing together.
Our aftercare is small and is available on a first come, first served basis. It is run as a separate entity on our premises by one of our staff members.

Our school management team works very hard to ensure the smooth running of our school.
Every year we support a charity to teach learners the importance of giving back to their community.
We are fortunate to have very supportive parents who do what they can to support our school both financially with fundraising and by working with us to do the very best we can for our learners.
