About Us
Mulbarton Remedial School (Established 2004)
Our school has such a rich and vibrant history, it really deserves a full-length book! The short version leaves out so very much about the empathic, innovative and creative staff who have taught over two decades of truly wonderful, amazing and fantastic children who have grown up at Mulbarton Remedial School.
The school grew out of an earlier remedial school on the same premises. That school closed down and Mulbarton Remedial School opened in January 2004.
That was the beginning of an exciting adventure for so many children who just needed a little more time and encouragement to learn, grow and develop in a small school that suited their way of learning.
Our name is highly respected in the educational community for our confident, hard-working learners who move on to other schools and thrive.
We started with 13 children, which quickly grew to 19 learners, two teachers and a teacher’s assistant. We started with Grades 1 to 5, but within six months already had children up to Grade 7. By the second year our teacher’s assistant became the third teacher and we had a new assistant join us. For the first few years we had multi-grade classes.
By 2007 the school had grown so much we needed to expand. The property at 58 Bellairs Drive was purchased and we had ten classes, including Grade 0. The school currently offers one class per grade from Grade 1 to 7 with additional support classes when needed.
We have always given our learners a fully rounded education with sports and cultural activities as well. Our children participate in soccer, athletics, cross-country, chess, poetry and art Eisteddfods against a variety of local schools and hold their own in every arena.
Every year has been enormous fun with new ideas, new experiences and many exciting events.
We also reach out to our own communities in need by helping at children’s homes, making soup mixes for Meals-on-Wheels, or donating essentials to a variety of schools and charities over the years. Our caring learners are always ready to help others in need practically through giving of their time as well as food, clothing, blankets and even their toys.
Our Mulbarton Remedial parents and guardians have been truly marvellous over the years! They have donated items for school fundraisers, helped us buy new readers and learning equipment as well as assisted wherever possible to enable the teachers to provide the best education for our learners. Everything in and around the school has been funded by our school families for over 20 years.
We are very blessed and grateful as Mulbarton Remedial School is a happy, caring school. Every staff member who has ever worked at Mulbarton Remedial has left their mark on the children they taught and the school, ensuring we are a welcoming school for every child. Our fantastic staff are a major part in creating our nurturing school.
A shining future awaits all new learners!
